About La Prairie

Overview

Having celebrated its 350th anniversary in 2017, the city of La Prairie is booming thanks to its direct access to the American markets, its active industrial zone and its two important commercial axes. The municipality is at once urban, agricultural and cultural. Considered an area of heritage interest, the Old La Prairie has been declared a heritage site since 1975.

Strategically located near the bridges to downtown Montreal and easily accessible by highways 15 and 30 and by route 132, La Prairie offers a great quality of life and many services to its residents.

Statistics

The city has grown rapidly from 6000 inhabitants in 1959 to 26 192 in 2020. The average age of its population is 40 years old and the median household income is $79,881; higher than cities like Montreal ($ 50,227) and Brossard ($ 72,570). The average cost of services is about 24% cheaper than similar municipalities.
